Assessment Support:

The Institute supports the MSU’s assessment initiatives by providing leadership for the graduating student surveys (all degree levels) and post-graduation follow-up, which occurs two years after graduation. With the development of the virtual assessment site the Institute can now adapt its services to the changing and targeted needs of colleges, departments, and special administrative units.

Our responsibilities for the “student outcome” component of the University assessment include:

a. Working with units in the development of appropriate questions that will capture student feedback on programs and services.
b. Managing survey administration, data collection, and data verification for each survey.
c. Maintenance of the virtual website.
d. Assist units in analyzing and interpreting their data and results.
e. Sustaining the longitudinal integrity of the database.

The Institute holds the responsibility for preparing two yearly reports on (1) the status of graduating students, which does not include any presentation of college and unit programmatic data and (2) the status of alumni in early careers. Special studies will be conducted using historical and special features of the data system.

In addition to these efforts, the Institute is positioned to assist units with special studies of student populations. The basic criterion for our involvement is that the study has a direct bearing on programs, activities, and services involving students or concerned with student development. Our support extends to the examination of alumni outcomes that extend the two-year efforts listed above.

All studies conducted by the Institute follow approved human subject procedures. Investigators wishing to work with the Institute will have to have UCRIHS approval before initiating a project in conjunction with Institute staff.

Reports of the Institute based on these studies can be found in our publication section. All unit reports belong to the units and are not available to the public.

If you have any questions or are interested in working with us, please contact us using the contact information on our home page.
